Every product starts somewhere different. You might have an early idea, a working prototype, or an existing product you want to improve.
I help you figure out what makes sense for your product, work through the important design and technical decisions, and move it forward.
Some projects need help with one specific stage. Others need support all the way through development and production.
Before jumping into design, I want to understand what you're building and why.
We look at the people who will use it, competing products, your business goals, and any technical or manufacturing constraints we already know about.
This helps us identify the real problems to solve, the opportunities worth exploring, and what the product actually needs.
This is where we start exploring what the product could become.
I use sketches, form studies, early layouts, and 3D concepts to develop different directions when the project calls for it.
We look at how each direction works, how it feels, what makes it different, and what it might mean for manufacturing and cost.
The goal isn't just to find something that looks good. It's to understand the options and choose a direction for the right reasons.
Once we have a direction, I start working through the details that turn it into a more complete product.
That includes CAD development, proportions, ergonomics, component placement, materials, assembly, and how people interact with the product.
Depending on the project, we build and review prototypes, work with engineers, and make adjustments based on what we learn.
It's rarely a straight line. One decision can affect several others, so we keep refining until the design is ready for its next stage.
Manufacturing is something I consider throughout development, not just at the end.
I work directly with manufacturers to get quotations, review materials and production methods, and make adjustments based on their feedback.
Once we have samples, I review them, discuss the results with you, and work with the manufacturer on any necessary improvements. We can go through several rounds until we're happy with the result.
I also coordinate samples, arrange for them to be sent to you, and work through the approvals before production.
I typically stay involved throughout production, communicating with suppliers, resolving issues, and making sure the final product stays aligned with the approved design.
You don't have to start at the beginning or go through every stage.
